Troop 215 Kayak trip to Bear Island. Hammocks Beach State Park September 12 and 13 2009. Beautiful weather. The island practically to ourselves. Kayaking against the wind and current both ways builds character

Raven Rock Hike, Sept 19

Just outside Lillington NC, Raven Rock State Park sits along the fall zone, an area where the hard, resistant rocks of the foothills give way to the softer rocks coastal plain. The Siouan and Tuscarora Indians hunted the area.  We’ll hike in and around the 150 tall rock face overlooking the river and then loop back around where the areas locks and dams once serviced the area.

Sign-up sheet at the meeting or, email Mr. Haeseker.

Beach Camping

Forms: Kayak Waver, Permission slip.

Troop 215 is heading to the NC coast for this month’s camp out September 12-13. We’ll be camping at Hammocks Beach State Park, which is located on Bear Island (http://www.ncparks.gov/Visit/parks/habe/main.php). The island is located immediately south of Emerald Isle and is accessible only by passenger ferry operated by the State Park or by private boat. This is one of the few remaining uninhabited and pristine coastal islands of NC which should provide an exciting trip for the Troop this month. Continue reading Beach Camping

Welcome

Welcome to our new website for Troop 215.

My wish for the “blog” format of this new website is that it will be fairly easy for many people to edit the material on this site, and to add new postings. Please contact Mr. Meeks if you want to contribute, or if you have any questions or concerns.

Notes and Rules of the Road:

  1. This website doesn’t take the place of email — posting something to this site does not equal notifying everyone by email. There is nothing wrong with having your email point to the website, or some part of it, however, or storing documents, instructions, and links here.
  2. Scouts first names, and adult last names are used to refer to people without invading their privacy too much. To obtain email addresses and phone numbers, we will soon have an on-line roster that will only be available to scouts, leaders, and families.
